It was Amitabh Bachchan who has done a cameo appearence in the Hindi version Sridevi's comeback film 'English Vinglish'. Since the film is made in Tamil as well, attempts are on to have on board a popular actor from K-Town to do the guest role.

If sources are to be believed, makers of the movie (directed by Gauri Shinde and produced by Balki) initially approached Superstar Rajinikanth. After Rajini expressed his inability, their immmediate choice seems to be Ajith.

"Though Ajith has been approached for the role, he is yet to confirm. But Gauri and Balki are hopeful of getting Ajith's consent," say sources close to the development.

'English Vinglish' will be premiered at Toronto International Film Festival which is going to be held between September 6 and 16. In the movie, Sridevi is playing the role of a woman who does not know English and hence humiliated by people around.

'Kanna Laddu Thinna...' is no remake

Rama Narayanan, who is producing 'Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya' in association with Santhanam, has refuted reports that the film is a remake of K Bhagyaraj's yesteryear blockbuster 'Indru Poi Naalai Vaa'.

"Just because there are three heroes (Santhanam, 'Power Star' Dr Srinivasan and 'VTV' Ganesh) and one heroine (Visaka) in this movie, it doesn't mean that the story is inspired by Indru Poi Naalai Vaa," he says.

Director Manigandan has come out with a fresh script, having Santhanam and Power Star in mind. All that I can say at this point of time is 'Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya' will be a funny entertainer, the veteran adds.

'Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya' marks Santhanam's entry as a producer. Meanwhile, the buzz is that Rama Narayanan, in a bid to avoid any controversy, has acquired the remake rights of 'Indru Poi Naalai Vaa'.

'Naan Ee' enters successful 4th week - Emerges safe bet!

In a film industry driven by fans who worship heroes, emerged a fly as a hero. Yes, we're referring to SS Rajamouli's Naan Ee that's entering its 4th successful week today, at a time when even well-established Tamil actor / filmmaker's films find it difficult to see a decent 2 - 3 week run in the BO.

Even before its release many critics had written off Naan Ee as merely a dubbed film with no star power. But post the release everyone unanimously praised Naan Ee and wholeheartedly agreed that it a straight Tamil film made with the nativity and local sensitivity in mind. (Remember it's a Telugu - Tamil bilingual made simultaneously in both the languages).

The film went on to capture the hearts and minds of the Tamil audience. Today as Naan Ee enters the 4th week of its theatrical run; it has re-written quite a few records on its way! The film that opened in more than 200 screens continues to run in more than 180 screens even in the fourth week

From Rajinikanth to top directors have showered it with praises. Kasi theatre in Chennai has re-released Naan Ee after a gap of two weeks. In the fourth week, Santham has commenced screening Naan Ee and many theatres across TN have shifted Naan Ee from small screens to large screens in its fourth week!

Naan Ee has proved the oft repeated quote that content is King. The producers, PVP Cinema and Director S S Rajamouli are very happy with the success of Naan Ee. The story of a simple housefly has managed to capture the imagination of the public...

Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra in Shankar's next?

Everything about a Shankar directorial is nothing less than news. It is now said that his 'I' with Vikram and Amy Jackson is a period-cum-contemporary entertainer and that there's room for another female lead in the second half of the film.

Rumors suggest that Deepika Padukone has been approached for this role by Shankar and that the dusky damsel has given her nod albeit she hasn't signed yet on the dotted lines.

However, scribes also express that the Shankar directorial Priyanka Chopra was approached for sometime last year is this film but sources close to the team rule them out as Shankar worked on this script only post 'Nanban'.

The film recently went on floors in Chennai at the AVM Studios and we hear that Amy has wrapped her portions in the first schedule. Like all Shankar films, 'I' started with an extravagant song shoot.

We'll have to wait to see who will play the second female lead in 'I', looks like it will be a B-town actress for sure.
